MD-2300 Masterpiece Micro-Dry Printer for MAC ONLY SCSI (like new)

We no longer sell ALPS printers - this information is shown for reference only

  • Power Cable
  • (1) set of ink cartridges Standard Color set 497098 (CMYK)
  • (1) set of ink cartridges Dye Sub set 811407 (CMYO)
  • The MD-2300 doesn't spray liquid ink onto a page, as most ink-jet printers do. Instead, it transfers dry ink to the page from a set of four cartridges by means of a 240-element thermal print head. The MD-2300's two high-quality modes cater to different needs: photo-realistic mode produces acceptable output similar to that of lower-cost color ink-jets, while photographic mode produces 600-by-600-dpi continuous-tone images that resemble costlier dye-sublimation output. A 1200-by-600 print mode is offered for gray-scale and black-and-white printing.
  • The printer's dry-ink cartridges are easy to handle and install. Because the printer automatically senses (via a bar code) which color is in each cartridge holder, they can be loaded in any order. You'll appreciate this convenience: to print in photographic-quality mode, you must remove all four standard ink cartridges and replace them with four photographic ink cartridges
  • It connects to your Mac via the SCSI port
  • The Alps Masterpiece MD-2300 offers stellar photographic output
  • Alps is claiming that their MD-2300 Masterpiece printer provides 600dpi continuous-tone photographic-quality output for $750. The sample output they supply to retailers is indeed impressive, even under magnification, and the consumables costs look reasonable (estimated $2.00-2.50 per page for an 8x10). It even comes in a SCSI version for Mac users, which is probably significantly faster than the parallel-port version they're selling on the PC side.
  • We have been informed by Alps Electric (North America) Inc. the we can no longer provide their drivers on CD due to copyright restrictions.

Watch your work come to life with the Alps Masterpiece MD-2300 color printer. The unit's 600x600DPI resolution in both text and graphics (1200x600DPI in black and white and gray scale) makes it ideal for business communicators, photographers, designers, graphic artists and hobbyists who want to print images with clarity, crispness and realism.

Alps' continuous-tone technology renders photographic-quality images, while its dye-based inks go on dry. The media remains flat to prevent over-saturation or warping. In standard Print mode, the MD-2300 prints 2 pages per minute for monochrome text and 3ppm to 5ppm for color graphics. In Photographic Quality mode, the printer takes 4 to 5 minutes per page for 4-by-6-inch color images and 15 to 20 minutes per page for 8-by-10-inch color images. The automatic sheet feeder holds 20 photographic-quality sheets or 100 sheets of letter, A4, B5 or legal-size paper. The MD-2300 also prints 2-by-3-inch labels and 0.65-by-0.85-inch stickers.

The printer measures 7.7 by 17.5 by 9.4 inches
